Łukašenka says his meeting with Putin was about oil prices

July 29, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed payments for Russian oil during the recent Belarusian ruler’s visit to Russia’s Karelia, his press office reports.

The Belarusian and Russian governments failed to resolve these issues earlier, Łukašenka has told his officials today, instructing them to draft an offer to the Russian supplier.

According to the Belarusian ruler, Putin was angered by Rosneft’s demand of advance payments for oil supplied to Belarus.

The talks also focused on security issues, Łukašenka said, without going into detail.

A few weeks ago, Belarusian Prime Minister Raman Hałoŭčanka linked Belarus’ trade deficit to rising oil prices.
