Dissident artist arrested, charged with vandalism in Paris – reports

September 23, Pozirk. French police have arrested Alaksiej Kuźmič who now faces vandalism charges, according to the Belarusian artist’s Instagram page.
He is accused of vandalizing a monument representing France’s cultural heritage.
Two days ago, Kuźmič posted his new performance on social media showing his drawing under the Vendôme Column in Paris that was supposed to represent a phallic symbol.
In late July, French police arrested Kuźmič for digging around Vincent van Gogh’s grave at Auvers-sur-Oise. He spent a few weeks at a detention center for foreigners, where he went on a hunger strike.
Kuźmič was evacuated from Belarus by the BYSOL Foundation in February to escape arrest and imprisonment for his politically-sensitive performance art.
