Łukašenka vows to develop AI despite skepticism

December 20, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka, who is currently visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), pledged to “promote and develop” artificial intelligence at his meeting with Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, the host country’s investment minister and CEO of the ADQ investment company.
The Belarusian ruler admitted to a certain initial distrust of AI. “There was talk that this bloody artificial intelligence will soon take over the whole world,” his press office reported, quoting him as saying.
In late September, Łukašenka told Minsk computer science students that he did not use any AI tools for information analysis or decision-making. “I fear that this artificial intelligence will hold us captive,” he said just three months ago.
