Belarus’ trade deficit widens to $660 million in January-November 2024
January 10, Pozirk. Belarus’ foreign trade in goods and services rose by 5.2 percent year on year to $91 billion in January-November 2024, said the central bank, citing preliminary data.
Exports amounted to $45.2 billion and imports, to $45.9 billion, with the deficit at $660 million after a surplus of $474 million recorded a year earlier.
Trade in goods rose by 4.3 percent to $76.5 billion with exports climbing by 2.1 percent to $36.4 billion and imports, by 6.4 percent to $40.1 billion. The deficit of trade in goods soared 83 percent year on year to about $3.7 billion.
Trade in services rose by about 10 percent to $14.6 billion, with exports growing by 12 percent to $8.8 billion and imports rising by 7.5 percent to $5.8 billion. The surplus widened by 21 percent to $3 billion.
Authorities aimed for a 7.6-percent rise in exports of goods and services for 2024 following a 6.8 percent increase in trade in goods and services in 2023 to $95.26 billion.
