Belarusian deputy PM meets Venezuela’s Maduro, vows to fight sanctions

January 12, Pozirk. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktar Karankievič pledged to “overcome all the sanction barriers and obstacles” together with Venezuela at his meeting with Nicolas Maduro, the government’s press office reported.

The Belarusian official conveyed Alaksandar Łukašenka’s congratulations to Venezuela’s authoritarian ruler who was sworn in for his third term two days ago after being declared winner in a contested election last year.

Maduro has been in power since 2013. Democratic countries sanctioned Venezuelan entities and individuals associated with his government.
