January 23, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has met with Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos to discuss ways to make Belarusian content more visible in the context of Russian-language dominance.
During the conversation, Cichanoŭskaja, raised the issue of Belarusian Wikipedia editors’ security amid repression and programs to support them, according to her press office.
The opposition leader also expressed gratitude to Wikipedia in connection with its editors’ decision to prioritize the use of “Belarus” instead of “Byelorussia” for the country in the Russian language.
