January 30, Pozirk. Investigators press extremism-related charges against Ihar Słučak, a prominent Belarusian language advocate, he said on Instagram.
The case was initiated in May 2024 and sent to Rahačoŭ district investigators seven months later.
Słučak, his wife Alina Nahornaja and two children fled Belarus on October 5, 2023 with the help of the Belarus Solidarity Foundation (BySol).
BySol co-founder Andrej Stryžak said it was hard to rescue them because of their recent activism, comparing their life in Belarus to a thriller.
In November 2023, Nahornaja received the Pahonia medal for her fight for freedom and independence of Belarus.
