Central bank reports acceleration of core inflation

February 11, Pozirk. Core inflation, which does not include changes in prices of seasonal goods, volatile or controlled prices, accelerated to 5.7 percent in January, the Belarusian central bank reports.
Core inflation stood at 5.5. percent in December and November 2024.
Last month, fruit and vegetable prices climbed by 2.7 percent, while government-controlled prices and tariffs rose by 4.8 percent.
The aggregate indicator of trend inflation (inflation free of the influence of various shocks) was 4.8 percent, said the National Bank of Belarus.
Consumer prices rose by 0.7 percent in January and 5.2 percent year on year, according to the official statistics.
The government plans to keep inflation below 5 percent this year.
