Cichanoŭskaja urges French MPs to seek freedom for Belarusian prisoners

February 11, Pozirk. Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has called on MPs in Paris to work toward the release of Belarusian political prisoners.
Human rights groups identified more than 1,200 current political prisoners in her country.
According to her chief adviser, Franak Viačorka, she raised the issue with French National Assembly President Yaël Braun-Pivet and members of the parliamentary group For a Democratic Belarus during the AI Action Summit.
“Cichanoŭskaja emphasized that efforts are being made on both the humanitarian and political tracks, but it is necessary to make every effort and strengthen international coordination to force the Łukašenka regime to release these people and stop repression,” Viačorka told Pozirk.
He announced agreements with the French MPs to “expand the work of the group For a Democratic Belarus and hold the Kalinoŭski Forum at the French National Assembly in the second half of 2025.”
