Military pundit Parotnikaŭ sentenced to 10 years in prison

February 27, Pozirk. Belarusian military analyst Andrej Parotnikaŭ has been sentenced to 10 years in a medium-security penal colony, the Telegram channel Strana Dlya Zhizni reported.
The former police officer, political scientist and head of the Belarus Security Blog faced five criminal charges, including high treason. Human rights groups declared him a political prisoner.
In March 2023, media reported that Parotnikaŭ was arrested in Russia and extradited to Minsk.
He agreed to cooperate with investigators, reports said. State propaganda portrayed him as an asset of the Polish secret services.
The expert went on trial in October 2024 at the Minsk Regional Court.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear his appeal against the sentence on March 14.
In September 2022, Alaksandar Łukašenka stripped Parotnikaŭ of his rank of reserve police captain.
