Washington mayor declares March 25 Belarus Freedom Day

March 24, Pozirk. Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, DC, has declared March 25 to be the Belarus Freedom Day in the US capital, according to a social media post by Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja.
Bowser points out that on that day Belarusians worldwide “pause to honor their heritage and advocate for democracy, justice and the fundamental rights of all people.”
She says that “Belarusian traditions and customs enrich the social fabric of our community, fostering cultural diversity and enhancing the vibrancy of the District Columbia.”
Tomorrow, Belarusian nationalists will celebrate the 107th anniversary of proclaiming the Belarusian National Republic (BNR), while Alaksandar Łukašenka will hold his 7th inauguration.
The Belarusian government suppresses any attempts to publicly honor the BNR inside the country.
