Temperatures in Minsk hit new high yesterday after 114 years

April 21, Pozirk. Minsk recorded the warmest April 20 in 114 years after 1911 with 23.7 degrees Celsius, according to Pozirk’s analysis of the Biełhidramiet’s data.
Seven new records, set in 1950, were also broken: in Homiel (new record 25.6C), Mahiloŭ (25.5C), the Mahiloŭ region’s Horki (23.4C), the Homiel region’s Vasilevičy (26.4C) and Žytkavičy (26.1C), Minsk region’s Marjina Horka (24.9C) and Pinsk (24.4C) in the Brest region.
Thirty-five locations across Belarus reported the warmest weather but the absolute record high of the day held at 26.9C recorded in Brahin, Homiel region, in 2000.
Warm weather increases the risk of wildfires and as of today, the Brest region’s Drahičyn is the only district in Belarus with unrestricted access to the forests.
