May 5, Pozirk. Belarus’ opposition leaders have appealed for donations on International Day of Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Belarusian officials do not perceive people with disabilities as equal citizens, opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has said.
Her associate Volha Zazulinskaja called on Belarusians to support a charity fundraiser for people with disabilities, administered by the Strana Dlya Zhizni Foundation.
“We are building Belarus together, in which no one will be forgotten. . . because the true value of the country is in its people, in all people without exception,” Cichanoŭskaja stressed.
More than 560,000 people in Belarus, including 30,000 children, have various forms of disability.
