Belarusian government’s delegation on four-day visit in North Korea

May 6, Pozirk. A Belarusian government’s delegation, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Juryj Šulejka, is to visit North Korea from May 6 to 9, the Korean Central News Agency reported.
The visit will take place at the invitation of North Korean side and include the third meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, it noted.
Earlier this year, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un congratulated Alaksandar Łukašenka on extending his 30-year-long rule in Belarus.
The Belarusian side has been seeking high-level contacts with North Korea for the past two years, but Pyongyang proceeded slowly, noting that Minsk must “clarify its intention correctly.”
During his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi last September Łukašenka suggested that Russia, Belarus and North Korea should consider trilateral cooperation.
North Korean troops fight alongside Russian forces against Ukraine. Authorities in Minsk have supported Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine since February 2022.
