Belarusians raise €25,000 for political prisoners’ children

June 1, Pozirk. Some €25,300 has been collected for the children of Belarusian political prisoners as part of a fundraiser organized by the BySol Solidarity Foundation.
This is more than the target of €25,260. The fundraiser continues.
According to earlier reports, the money will help organize summer holidays for the children of current and former political prisoners. An allowance of €100 will be paid for each child under 16.
The BySol website reports that 159 children out of 245 have already received payments.
On June 1, Children’s Day, the United Transitional Cabinet’s deputy representative for social policy said the Belarusian government was a threat to children. Irina McLean stated that the children of political prisoners had been waiting for their parents from prison for years, solely because the parents had expressed their disagreement.
In May 2024, opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja said not a single family had been left untouched by repression. She said thousands of Belarusian children were growing up in single-parent families only because the dictator wanted it that way.
