June 6, Pozirk. The Russian Orthodox Church has never pursued political goals that run counter to the government’s or nation’s interests, its leader has told Alaksandar Łukašenka in Minsk.
Patriarch Kirill said he is in favor of fostering ties with the Roman Catholic Church, as these relations might contribute to peace and build trust among nations.
He awarded Łukašenka the Order of Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow for cultivating the church-state relationship.
The Russian Orthodox Church is the dominant denomination in Belarus.
