Belarus among bottom three of Article 19 freedom of expression ranking

June 25, Pozirk. Belarus ranks 159th out of 161 countries in freedom of expression, said the international human rights organization Article 19.
Only Nicaragua and North Korea are ranked below Belarus in the The Global Expression Report 2025.
Russia ranked 151st. Among Belarus’ neighbors, Latvia had the best score at 9th. Lithuania ranked 17th, Poland ranked 29th and Ukraine ranked 103rd.
According to the human rights activists, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden are the top-ranked countries. Of the former Soviet countries, Estonia showed the best performance, ranked 4th.
