Opposition politician Łatuška vows to continue fight despite daily death threats

September 2, Pozirk. Pavieł Łatuška, a Warsaw-based Belarusian opposition figure, told participants at an economic forum in Karpacz that he would not leave Poland despite a wave of threats.

“I will keep on fighting,” he declared, undeterred by the daily intimidation.

Earlier in the day, Łatuška—who broke with the authorities during the 2020 postelection protests after many years of civil service, including as a diplomat and minister—received an anonymous email urging him to move to “a safer country.” The message warned that the Belarusian regime intended to assassinate him, adding: “This is only a matter of time.”

Łatuška had previously reported threats to the Polish authorities. The Internal Security Agency has launched an investigation.

Belarusian leader Aliaksandar Łukašenka has repeatedly lashed out at Łatuška in recent interviews.
