Femgroup Belarus designated as “extremist formation”

October 10, Pozirk. The Committee for State Security (KGB) on Tuesday designated Femgroup Belarus as an “extremist formation,” according to an updated register.
According to the foreign-based group’s Facebook page, it was created for “the women’s movement to keep influencing all the ongoing transformation processes in a new Belarus.”
The KGB named sociologist Alena Aharełyšava, philosopher Volha Šparaha and Julija Mickievič, the United Transitional Cabinet’s first deputy representative for social policy, as members of the “formation.”
Mickievič was previously accused of involvement with Fine to Be Active (Bel.: Aktyŭnym Być Fajna), an informal education project. The KGB declared it extremist group on October 8 last year.
On June 23, 2025, the KGB assigned the same status to the Education Office for a New Belarus, targeting Šparaha, its academic director.
The extremist register now contains 353 entries and 315 names.
