North Korea’s top diplomat to visit Belarus

October 26, Pozirk. Choe Son-hui, North Korea’s foreign minister, will visit Belarus and Russia at the invitation of the respective foreign ministries, the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports.
No further details of the upcoming visit have been released.
In early September, Alaksandar Łukašenka met Kim Jong Un in Beijing where both attended a military parade. The Belarusian ruler reportedly received an invitation to North Korea during that meeting.
The Belarusian side has been seeking high-level contacts with North Korea for the past two years, but Pyongyang proceeded slowly, noting that Minsk must “clarify its intention correctly.”
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryžankoŭ visited North Korea in July 2024.
Five months ago, a Belarusian government delegation participated in the third meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in North Korea.
Earlier this year, Kim Jong Un congratulated Łukašenka on extending his 30-year-long rule in Belarus.
