Polish border guards discover tunnel under border wall

December 12, Pozirk. Polish border guards have uncovered a tunnel beneath the Belarusian-Polish border wall, detaining more than 130 undocumented migrants—mostly nationals of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Border guards, soldiers and tracking dogs are continuing the search for more than 50 additional individuals who are believed to have entered Poland through the tunnel, according to security-camera footage.

The tunnel’s exit was located near the village of Narewka in Podlaskie Voivodeship, around 10 meters inside Polish territory behind the border wall. The entrance was found near Tušemla in the Svisłoč district of the Hrodna region, roughly 50 meters from the border. Measuring about 1.5 meters in height, the tunnel ran beneath both a road and the wall.
Authorities also arrested two drivers who had arrived to pick up the migrants: a 69-year-old Polish citizen and a 49-year-old Lithuanian.
This is the fourth tunnel discovered in 2025 by the Podlaskie Border Guard Unit.
Between November 28 and December 10, the Polish Border Guard recorded just five attempts to cross the border outside legal checkpoints. No attempts were reported between December 2 and 9.
In total, Polish border guards have documented nearly 29,000 attempts by third-country nationals to cross illegally from Belarus this year.
