Łukašenka: Tehran passed “maturity test” with crackdown on protests

February 11, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has described the recent violent crackdown on protests in Iran as “a test of maturity” for the country’s authorities in his congratulatory message to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
“Preserving constitutional order in difficult times demonstrates the responsibility of the leadership and the ability of Iranians to defend their choice, not allowing external forces to impose their will,” the Belarusian ruler’s press office quoted the message as saying.
“Iran continues to follow its path, demonstrating progress and loyalty to traditional spiritual values amid regional military escalation and a fierce confrontation with those who apply double standards,” it reads.
Mass protests erupted in Iran in December 2025 as a response to the country’s economic crisis, yet soon escalated into widespread demands for the ouster of the government by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Protests spread to all major Iranian cities, and authorities resorted to violence to suppress them. Estimates of the death toll vary, but it is believed to be in the thousands.
