Łukašenka urges army to prepare for all possible scenarios

February 13, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has stressed the importance of drills while inspecting units at the 227th training ground in the Barysaŭ district, Minsk region.
“Everyone is under scrutiny, even the minister of defense and the state secretary [of the Security Council]. This winter, we will inspect everyone,” the defense ministry’s press office quoted him as saying.
The politician did not rule out scenarios that could require troop deployment, but said such a move was unlikely in the near future.
Łukašenka urged servicemen to study and be prepared. “Study just in case. If you know how to do everything, you will survive,” he said.
The ongoing drill, ordered by the Belarusian ruler on January 16, is expected to last until spring.
The Belarusian army is frequently conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.
