EU sanctions Belarus’ Izovac, its Russian partner

June 15, Pozirk. The European Union has sanctioned AAT Izovac (OOO Izovac), a Belarus-based company, for “materially supporting Russia’s military and industrial complex,” the Official Journal of the EU says.
Izavak, specializing in vacuum coating technologies and related software, is represented in Russia by its partner LLC Engineering Group, which has also been sanctioned.
Izovac has supplied $200 million worth of goods to Russian defense contractors since the start of Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine in February 2022, the document noted, confirming conclusions of last year’s report by the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC).
The company is little known to the general public, yet its customers reportedly included tech giants such as Apple, Tesla and Samsung. Touch screens for iPhone and iPad were originally manufactured using Izavaс’s equipment, according to the World Bank.
In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.
