Belarus men’s teams not allowed to participate in 2027 ice hockey championships

July 31, Pozirk. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has not allowed Belarus’ national team to participate in the 2027 Men’s and Junior World Championships citing safety and security concerns.
The ban does not seem to apply to women’s teams. Hockey.by reported in May that Belarus’ women’s teams were allowed to participate in the 2027 world’s championships, but the IIHF does not say it in its statement.
The statement says that the IIHF Council considered each competition separately, but would not detail its decisions on the Women’s World Championship 2027 Division IV, U18 Men’s World Championship 2027 and U18 Women’s World Championship 2027 Division III.
