Łukašenka reassures Myanmar’s visiting leader of his support

August 21, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka reassured Myanmar’s junta leader Min Aung Hlaing of his full support during their meeting in Minsk on August 21, promising to help the Myanmar people with technologies and “everything” they need, including food and clothes.

Hlaing, who arrived in the Belarusian capital after his visit to Moscow, is to attend the opening ceremony for Myanmar’s embassy in Minsk and the Myanmar-Belarus Business Forum, involving more than 100 business executives from Myanmar.

Myanmar has been under military rule since a 2021 coup against a democratically elected government, followed by a civil war that has claimed thousands of lives. Minsk has sought to expand ties with Myanmar lately. Łukašenka visited it on November 27 and 28, 2025, and on July 2, 2026. 

Myanmar’s ruler coming to Belarus
