November 3, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka criticized international organizations at an international security conference in Minsk on November 3, predicting the disintegration of the United Nations.

“Unfortunately, today the power of international law, with the connivance and tacit agreement of international institutions, has so far been yielding to the power of force,” he said.

He said the UN could disintegrate like the League of Nations, which collapsed after failing to prevent the Second World War.

Łukašenka went on to criticize the UN, saying it was dominated by Western officials and its agenda did not reflect the interests of the global majority. “Confusion and uncertainty reign; there is no trace of its spirit of solidarity,” he said.

He also expressed disappointment with regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and the Eurasian Economic Union, saying they had “the same sluggish agenda and behavior of their members.”

He said the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) could function properly if it adopted Belarus’ “unifying agenda,” which includes arms control but excludes human rights.

Łukašenka indicated that he had no reservations about Washington’s decision not to invite OSCE observers to the US midterm elections.

“Why should we be allowed onto the American porch […] when there is a war in our own house, along with other conflicts? We are arming ourselves and preparing for other conflicts. We cannot put our own house in order. Why should we stick our noses into America?”

Earlier in the day, the Belarusian ruler met with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu, who is also attending the Minsk conference. He criticized the OSCE for failing to stop the war in Europe.
