October 4, Pozirk. Law enforcers have seized about 2,000 arms from Belarusians since January 1, the interior ministry said.
“More than 600 unregistered guns and about 72,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were confiscated from circulation,” the ministry said. “Citizens voluntarily surrendered more than 300 weapons and about 33,000 rounds of ammunition. More than 1,000 registered guns were confiscated from individual owners for various violations.”
According to the statement, the “main stage” of the Arsenal preventive operation will take place in the country on October 9-13. Police will check whether citizens are keeping their registered guns properly and will uncover “illegal weapons, ammunition, explosive devices and substances.”
Those who voluntarily hand over the illegally stored weapons and ammunition will not be punished, the interior ministry said.
