Cichanoŭskaja urges Ryanair CEO to support further investigation of Ryanair flight incident in Minsk
January 29, BPN. Belarusian democratic leader Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja discussed by phone with Michael O’Leary, the CEO of the Irish Ryanair, the recent data related to the landing of Ryanair Boeing 737 aircraft in Minsk last May, while en route from Athens to Vilnius.
According to her press service, Cichanoŭskaja urged O’Leary to “publicly support the demands of the Belarusians to continue the investigation into the incident, which was a planned operation” to arrest Belarusian blogger Raman Pratasievič who was travelling on that flight.
The sides also discussed “an indictment filed in the United States against two KGB officers and two [persons] from Belaeranavihacyja charged with conspiracy to commit an act of aviation piracy.”
Ryanair CEO “agreed that Raman Pratasievič and Safija Sapieha, who are detained, should be released like all other political prisoners.” O’Leary declared his support for the Belarusian people and expressed his wish to “launch Ryanair flights in the new Belarus.”
