The number of employed people in the Belarusian economy decreased by 46.1 thousand over the year
January 30, BPN. According to the National Statistical Committee, 4,257,200 people were employed in the Belarusian economy in December 2021.
By comparison, the economy employed 4,303,300 people in December 2020 and 4,333,500 in December 2019.
In other words, the number of the employed decreased by 46,100 (-1.07%) over a year and by 76,300 (-1.76%) over two years.
According to Belstat, the real unemployment rate, calculated using the International Labour Organisation methodology, reached 3.7% of Belarus’ working-age population in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The employment rate for the working-age population as a whole was 82.8 per cent: 81.7 per cent for men, 84 per cent for women, 83.2 per cent for the urban population and 81.6 per cent for the rural population.
