EU countries prevented 68 irregular migrants from entering from Belarus over the previous day
February 2, BPN. Over the previous day, 68 migrants intending to cross the border illegally from Belarus were prevented from entering the European Union.
The Latvian State Border Guard reported that attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border by 50 foreigners were prevented on February 1.
Since August 10, 2021, when a state of emergency was introduced in the areas bordering Belarus, 5,556 illegal migrants have been prevented from entering Latvia. In the same time period, 113 people have been let through for humanitarian reasons.
Border Guard Service of Poland reported on Twitter that on the previous day 9 migrants tried to illegally cross the border from the Belarusian territory. Since the beginning of January 2022, 1,033 people were not allowed to enter Poland.
The Lithuanian broadcaster LRT quoted the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service reporting that 9 illegal migrants from Belarus were not let into the country on February 1. Since the beginning of August 2021, when it was decided not to detain illegal immigrants, instead turning them back to Belarus, 8,254 people were not allowed to enter Lithuania.
