No representatives of opposition parties included in precinct referendum commissions
February 7, BPN. Not a single representative of the opposition parties that were nominated was included in the precinct referendum commissions, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Members of the Belarusian Party of the Left “A Just World” (30 representatives nominated), the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) (7), the Belarusian Green Party, the United Civic Party (2 each), and the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada (1) did not make it to the precinct commissions.
According to the CEC website, 153 territorial referendum commissions also do not include a single representative of opposition structures.
The territorial commissions include 1,857 people (1,935 were nominated). The authorities did not include any of the 20 opposition party representatives nominated by the Belarusian Party of the Left “A Just World” (18), the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) and the Belarusian Green Party (1 each).
Early voting in the referendum will be held between February 22 and February 26. The main voting day is February 27. The referendum question to be answered: “Do you accept the amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus?”
