Weather service issues alerts as Belarus braces for heatwave

June 26, Pozirk. The Biełhidramiet weather service has issued orange and red for the following three days.

Tomorrow, the temperatures across Belarus are expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius, with 35 C forecast for the Brest region. Temperatures may hit 39 C in the southwest of the country on June 29, which will likely set a new record high temperature. Nighttime temperatures will not drop below 17 C.

On Monday, showers and thunderstorms are expected with gusty winds in the afternoon, Biełhidramiet said.

The heatwave is expected to end as colder northern air moves into Belarus behind a frontal system arriving from the Baltic Sea starting June 29.
