Union Resolve 2022 military drills on February 11 are to be conducted at two training ranges and in at least three different locations, Defense Ministry informs
February 11, BPN. The main stages of the troops’ training activities at the joint Belarusian-Russian exercises Union Resolve 2022 are to take place on February 11 at two training ranges and in at least three different locations, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reports.
The units of the Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Belarus will practice defensive combat at the Hoža training range (Hrodna region), while air defense units will practice protecting command posts, firing positions, and units’ defense areas from enemy air strikes.
The air defense units of the Russian Marines will repel enemy air strikes “with live fire” in the Brest region, at a location in Baranavičy district, while the units of the Belarusian Mechanized Brigade will conduct a defensive combat training exercise.
Units of the Belarusian Special Operations Forces, together with Russian paratroopers and motorized riflemen will defend military facilities, rear convoys, as well as ” uncover the hidden sites of illegal armed groups” at the Brest training range.
The Russian Motorized Rifle Troops units will practice repelling air strikes of the mock enemy in the Homiel’ region and “working out the issues of survival, withdrawing from and occupying defensive lines as well as crossing a water obstacle – the Prypiac’ river.”
On a stretch of terrain in the Homiel’ district, units of the Russian Airborne Forces will practice destroying illegal armed formations and the mock enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
As part of the Union State’s response forces inspection, since mid-January, Russia has been actively transferring troops and military equipment to Belarus, including a division of Pantsir-S surface-to-air missile systems, Su-35S multirole fighters, Su-25SM attack aircrafts, and the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system.
On February 10, large-scale joint military exercises Union Resolve 2022 started in Belarus. On the same day, at the initiative of the US side, Gen. Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces and Viktar Hulevič, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus had a phone conversation. The sides discussed “regional security related issues of concern.”
