Former prosecutor Alieh Jermakoŭ detained in a criminal case and charged of inciting hatred

February 12, BPN. The security forces detained Alieh Jermakoŭ, a former senior assistant prosecutor of the Maskoŭski district of Minsk. The video where he confirms his detention was posted on February 12 in one of the Telegram channels associated with the law enforcement agencies.

In the video, a man introduces himself and says: “I served in (here, the sound was deliberately distorted – BPN) positions from 2011 to 2019. I am currently the chief specialist at Belagroprombank JSC.

The detainee stated that he was suspected of committing a crime under Article 130, part 1 of the Criminal Code (intentional actions aimed at inciting racial, national, religious or other social enmity).

The accompanying text states that a “former law enforcement officer” was detained for “leaking personal data of his colleagues.” “The data were leaked for political reasons to the extremist Telegram channel NEXTA, and then the information was made available to the public,” the message said.

Photos of Jermakoŭ with his name and position are still on the website of the Maskoŭski district administration of Minsk.
