February 14, BPN. Pope Francis has sent 50,000 euros to assist migrants stranded on the border of Lithuania and Belarus, the Vatican News portal reports.
The report notes that funds were transferred to the Vilnius branch of the charitable Catholic organization Caritas through the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
“In cooperation the Apostolic Nunciature in Lithuania, the aid will go toward providing migrants with medicines, foodstuffs, and warm clothing. It will help them endure the harsh living conditions which they are suffering during this cold winter, which are aggravated also by the ongoing pandemic,” the press service of the Holy See noted.
As reported, on January 18, Pope Francis handed over 100 thousand euros to help migrants on the border of Poland and Belarus.
