14.53% of voters came to the polling stations in the first two days of early voting in the constitutional referendum, Central Election Commission reports

February 24, BPN. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 14.53% of voters came to the polling stations in the first two days of early voting in the constitutional referendum. A total of 6,810,166 citizens are included in the electoral register.

On February 22 and 23, 17.86% of 1,066,935 registered voters voted in Homiel’ region, 15.10% (792,576) in Mahilioŭ region, 14.98% (974,742) in Brest region, 14.88% (1,136,893) in Minsk region, 14.55% (834,701) in Viciebsk region, 12.80% (1,271,318) in the city of Minsk, and 10.89% (733,001) in Hrodna region.

Early voting will last until February 26. The main voting day is February 27.

The only referendum question to be answered: “Do you accept the amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus?”

Key proposed amendments include legitimisation of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, a restoration of the rule limiting the presidency by one person to a maximum of two terms, introduction of immunity for former presidents, and monopolization of the state ideology.
