Lukašenka became Putin’s accomplice, he and his regime are also responsible for military aggression against Ukraine, Latuška says
February 24, BPN. The National Anti-Crisis Management (NAU) of Belarus “strongly condemns the act of military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” said the head of the NAU, former official and diplomat Paviel Latuška.
“We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support them at this difficult historical moment,” the statement reads. “Ukraine is fighting now not only for its territorial integrity, but also for freedom for the whole of Europe.”
“The Belarusian people have never been at war with the Ukrainian people. Today the Belarusians are also against the war. Only dictator Lukašenka has become Putin’s accomplice by providing the territory of Belarus for the deployment of the aggressor’s troops. The Lukašenka regime and the dictator personally also bear full responsibility for the military aggression against Ukraine. The perpetrators must be held accountable under international law for actions that grossly violate it,” Latuška said.
He urged all Belarusians to support Ukraine. “The military junta headed by dictator Aliaksandr Lukašenka poses a threat to our statehood and sovereignty” said the head of the NAU. “At this historic moment, the Belarusian people must make a civilizational choice – whether we want to live in a sovereign country where human rights and freedoms are respected, in a state that determines its own foreign and domestic policies, or to become a satellite of the Russian Federation. Only the Belarusian people can protect the independence of Belarus.”
Belarusian democratic leader Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja wrote on Twitter that “Russia with the participation of Lukašenka’s regime launched a groundless and shameless military aggression against Ukraine.” “The regime turned our country into an aggressor. But Belarusians don’t want war. Belarus strongly condemns this move and stands with Ukraine,” she stressed.
