February 25, BPN. The Council of the European Union has extended the previously imposed sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukašenka, his family, and representatives of his regime until February 28, 2023. The decision to this effect was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on February 25.
Currently, the EU sanctions list includes 183 individuals and 26 Belarusian enterprises. Most of them were sanctioned following the rigged 2020 presidential election and the suppression of protests.
As reported, on February 24, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on 24 entities and individuals involved in the Belarusian banking and military sectors.
