Cichanoŭskaja announces “anti-war mobilization”

March 2, BPN. Belarusian democratic leader Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja announced the “anti-war mobilization.”

“The sovereignty of Belarus is not just under threat. Lukašenka simply surrendered part of the sovereignty. We no longer think about whether or not troops would be sent to war. We already know that this will happen, and we are all afraid that they may not return,” Cichanoŭskaja said in a video message to Belarusians.

According to her, Belarusians are turning from people who were admired by the whole world after the 2020 presidential election into people whom others begin to hate, with confrontations already happening in various countries.

“The opposition to the war in Ukraine and the struggle for democracy now are two objectives of one big movement. Mobilization is already in full swing. If there is a need for me, in a capacity of a national leader, to make it official, then I will speak up. I declare the anti-war mobilization,” Cichanoŭskaja announced.

According to her, all actions in the next week should lead to two results: to ensure that Belarusians are no longer perceived as aggressors, and to force the Belarusian military to give up participating in the war or to switch immediately to the Ukrainian side.

Cichanoŭskaja prioritized following five directions:

– to work on the information front, to spread the truth, and to fight propaganda;

– to call upon mothers to stop their sons, brothers, and husbands from being sent to fight against Ukrainians, to put pressure on the authorities and military recruitment offices, demanding information about the whereabouts of men and to stop them being sent to the front;

– to prevent the regime from fighting: to show disobedience, to prepare for a strike, to disable equipment and to slow it down, to paralyze the work of state infrastructure without harming people’s health and lives;

– to increase economic resistance, to withdraw deposits, to cash out accounts, and to deprive the regime of money;

– to form a Belarusian corps of volunteers who are willing to defend Ukrainian cities, to work as doctors or logistics specialists on Ukrainian side.
