Cichanoŭskaja to Zelensky: We’re on Ukraine’s side in defense against Kremlin’s attempts at occupation

March 4, BPN. Belarusian democratic leader Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja addressed the Ukrainian people and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

She stated that “Lukašenka has betrayed the Belarusian people twice: after the 2020 elections, when he launched the worst mass repressions in the history of modern Belarus, and now, when he allowed foreign troops to enter our country.” “He became an enemy for both our peoples,” Cichanoŭskaja noted.

“We admire you, dear Ukrainians and Mr. President. Your actions demonstrate the unity of the state leadership and the whole nation,” she stressed. “We, Belarusians, oppose the regime that has already surrendered a part of the sovereignty of our country in order to become a part of the aggression against your country.”

“We are on Ukraine’s side in defense against the Kremlin’s attempts at occupation. Belarusians understand that this is not a special operation and that it was Vladimir Putin who decided to bomb civilians,” Cichanoŭskaja said.

She noted that Belarusians took to the streets to protest “following a total purge of civil society and independent media, knowing that the groups that could have fought back were destroyed years ago.”

“In an atmosphere of fear, tens of thousands of Belarusians dared to do it. 900 people were detained in two days (February 27 and 28 – BPN.). They all knew what they were getting into,” Belarusian democratic leader said.

She added that even though this has not stopped the dictator now, but a Belarusian anti-war movement was launched to prevent the regime from waging war.
