Journalist Dzijana Seradziuk and her husband sentenced to 15 days of arrest
March 4, BPN. The Central District Court of Minsk (judge Dzmitry Karsiuk) sentenced Dzijana Seradziuk, Novy Čas newspaper journalist, and her husband, public activist Yauhien Batura to 15 days of arrest.
They were found guilty under Article 24.3 of the Administrative Code (disobedience to a legitimate order or demand of an official in the performance of his duties), Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
The couple was detained in the evening of March 3 at the gates of the cathedral in Minsk, where a group of women was praying to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On February 14, Batura was detained and released six hours later. In February 2020, he and his wife were fined by the Central District Court of Minsk for participating in a rally against integration with Russia.
