Cichanoŭskaja supports Zelensky’s call to close the sky over Ukraine
March 6, BPN. Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja supported the call of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to close the sky over Ukraine.
“This is a security issue for Ukraine, Belarus, and the whole of Europe. It will also help to stop Russian missiles and military airplanes that are launched from the territory of Belarus every day,” Belarusian democratic leader said in an address to the people of Ukraine.
Cichanoŭskaja’s office “supports all initiatives to help Ukraine fight Russian aggression” – as do Belarusians who “participate in the anti-war movement, help the Ukrainian army and refugees, collect humanitarian aid and send it to Ukraine, carry out subversive acts on the railroad and prevent the delivery of military cargo to Ukraine in every possible way.”
Previously, Zelensky criticized NATO’s lack of tough stance on Russia and the bloc’s unwillingness to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine. “I don’t know who you can protect and whether you can even protect your own alliance countries,” he said.
Russian president Vladimir Putin stated that the creation of a no-fly zone is possible “only from the territory of some neighbouring countries” and that “any step in this direction will be regarded by us as participation in an armed conflict by a country that will pose threats to our servicemen.” “We’re going to treat them as participants in a military conflict this very second. And it no longer matters what organization they are members of,” Putin said.
