Two Belarusians wounded during Hamas attack on Israel – foreign ministry
October 8, Pozirk. About 30 Belarusians contacted the Belarusian embassy in Tel Aviv over the past day, including a mother and a son wounded during a rocket attack on the city of Ashkelon, the foreign ministry’s press office reports.
Both are hospitalized and one is in an extremely serious condition, it noted. The embassy is in contact with the medical facility and their family members, the ministry said.
All Belarusian nationals currently staying in Israel are advised to strictly follow the local authorities’ instructions, it added, reiterating the inadmissibility of attacks on the civilian population.
Early on October 7, Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel firing thousands of rockets from the Gaza Strip while its fighters infiltrated Israel. Israeli authorities said the country was “at war.”
A statement by the Belarusian foreign ministry stressed serious concerns over the “sharp aggravation of the situation in Israel, accompanied by human casualties.”
Any manifestations of aggression and casualties among civilians are unacceptable, it noted, calling for urgent measures to de-escalate tensions.
Israeli media reported 300 dead, including 30 police officers. Some 1,600 people are wounded, 300 of whom in serious and extremely serious condition.
Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja condemned the Hamas attack on Israel.
