Lithuanian financial police freeze assets of persons linked to Belarus

The Lithuanian Financial Crime Investigation Service (FCIS) affiliated with the Lithuanian interior ministry, has frozen about €30.5 million and almost $7.7 million in the accounts of four legal entities and one individual linked to Belarus as part of the EU restrictive measures, its press office reported.

The names of companies and persons whose funds were frozen have not been disclosed.

On April 20, the FCIS reported the freezing of €45.700 belonging to three legal entities and one individual associated with Aliaksandr Šakucin, chair of the board at Amkador, the Belarusian manufacturer of special-purpose machinery.

As a close associate of Aliaksandr Lukašenka, Šakucin was included in the third package of sanctions, adopted by the EU on December 17, 2020 over human rights abuses in Belarus.
