Prime minister says sanctions against Belarus and Russia affect world economy

May 14, BPN. The sanctions imposed on Minsk and Moscow are “shaking the entire world economy,” Belarusian Prime Minister Raman Haloŭčanka told the UAE’s Al Arabiya TV channel on May 14.

He claimed that sanctions aim to bring Belarus and Russia “on their knees,” noting that the side effects include issues with food, fertilizers, rising energy prices, and inflation.

According to the official, increased fuel prices in Europe are a direct effect of sanctions because Belarus was one of the most important suppliers of fuel to the European market. He also claimed that UN World Food Program was worried about increasing food prices, but Washington and its allies don’t seem to care about it. Haloŭčanka concluded that sanctions are dangerous and their outcome is unpredictable.
