Former state TV news anchor held in detention for over two months

May 17, BPN. Dźmitryj Lukša, former host of Zona X criminal news show on the state-run Belarus 1 TV channel, has been held for more than two months at Detention Center No. 1 on Valadarskaha Street in Minsk, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.

The journalist was arrested on March 11 after a search in his apartment in Minsk on changes of insulting a public official and violating public order.

Lukša had worked as a freelancer for the Kazakh TV channel Khabar 24 more recently. His arrest is linked to a recent report, but Viasna has not disclosed any further details.
