Latvia to bar Belarusians, Russians from companies of national security importance

June 15, BPN. The Latvian parliamentary committee on defense, domestic affairs and corruption prevention on June 14 passed the final draft of amendments that would ban Russian and Belarusian nationals’ significant participation in sensitive commercial companies, Delfi reported.

According to the report, the amendments stipulate that Russia and Belarus, their nationals or companies “cannot acquire a significant share or a decisive voting right in an enterprise important from the national security viewpoint”.

Those already having “significant participation” or “decisive influence” would no longer be able to exercise their right to vote, Delfi added.
