Arrested oil refinery employee on dry hunger strike – human rights activists
June 17, BPN. An employee of the Naftan company (Navapołack, Viciebsk region), Barys Žachoŭski, who got his third consecutive 15-day administrative sentence on June 16, has been on a dry hunger strike for five days, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.
The 32-year-old employee of the oil refinery was arrested on May 16 and sentenced to 15 days in jail for disseminating “extremist materials”.
While in jail, a new charge was brought against him, followed by a similar punishment.
Yesterday Žachoŭski was found guilty of “unauthorized picketing” and sentenced to 15 more days.
