Łukašenka plays down Poland’s border protection efforts

August 26, BPN. Alaksandr Łukašenka said that the newly constructed wall at the Belarus-Poland border did not protect Poland from illegal migrants.

During his visit to the Minsk Mechanical Plant on August 26, he said that it takes migrants three minutes to get over it. He claimed that there were corruption schemes behind the project.

Łukašenka also noted that Poland is well aware of what kind of response it might get from Belarus. “They are watching us, and we are watching them,” he said. “I must honestly say that at the moment they [Polish authorities] do not escalate the situation at the border.”
